Health and Wellness

The terms well being and health are sometimes used interchangeably. Although one cannot exist without the other, they are two distinct ideas with different degrees of variation and separate meanings.

Health, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), is "a condition of whole physical, mental, and social well-being and not only the absence of sickness or weakness (illness).

According to WHO, wellness is "a positive approach to living" and "the best condition of health of individuals and groups.

Wellness versus better health

While the state of your health cannot be specifically designed, you may actively select wellness by leading a responsible life and taking care of your well-being. A diagnosis of a sickness or illness, a propensity for a disease, and any unexpected injuries are all considered to be aspects of health. In order to achieve your maximum health and well-being, wellness is an active process of growth and change. It is linked to taking part in activities, making decisions about one's lifestyle, reducing risk factors that can hurt one, putting a focus on nutrition, eating a balanced diet, and adhering to spiritual practises that promote holistic health.

Risk factors are behaviour or circumstances that raise a person's risk of disease or harm. Many risk factors that may be detrimental to health

01.

Physical

Physical wellness enhances physical fitness—by being physically fit, a person would have an expanded ability to prevent illness and diseases. Thrilling physical and mental wellbeing is exercise. By participating in more physical exercise on a daily basis, such as walking, cycling, walking the dog, using the stairs, and trekking, one can avoid leading a sedentary lifestyle. A person's physical fitness is promoted by having appropriate nutrition, eating a balanced diet, drinking enough water (eight glasses per day), and getting enough sleep.

02.

Intellectual

Learning, problem-solving, and creative arts stimulate the mind, boost intellectual wellness, and create a more positive outlook. Learning new things and pushing one's thinking can help people stay mentally healthy.

03.

Emotional

When emotionally healthy, a person can handle challenging circumstances. Emotional well being would be demonstrated by a person who is self-aware, has high self-esteem, and empathizes with others' feelings.

04.

Environmental

Wellness is promoted by maintaining and living in a healthy physical environment free of risks and being aware of the part we play in enhancing rather than demeaning our natural environment.

05.

Social

A person's social and support networks are important to their general well being. A person is kept happier and healthier by relating to, participating with, and contributing to their community, creating positive interpersonal relationships, and upholding enduring ties with family and friends.

06.

Spiritual

Spiritual well being is the pursuit of life's meaning and purpose, not a person's religion or level of belief. Spiritual wellness is aided by learning to be compassionate, caring, forgiving, and having a purpose in life. You can do this by meditating, giving back to the community, being outside, etc.
